Your Coins Today, Their Coins Tomorrow

People are always wondering how they can spend time with their loved ones and teach them about finance. Whether you have children, grandchildren, or nieces or nephews, coin collecting is a great way to have fun with your little ones, while teaching them responsibility, mathematics, while looking out for their future.
Many people ask, "what coins should I save for my loved ones? While there are many coins that are valuable, most coins that were minted before 1970 contain the precious metal silver. This applies to American coins. With silver trading at about $40 an ounce, coin collecting is a good idea for both you and your loved ones.
Coins from 1969 to 1965 contain 40% silver, whereas coins minted 1965 and earlier contain 90% silver. Some coins that contain silver include:

Roosevelt Dime
Washington Quarter
Kennedy Half Dollar
Franklin Half Dollar
Morgan Silver Dollar
Peace Silver Dollar

Just think of all the history that goes along with each coin. You can teach your young about your favorite presidents as well as teaching them how to add fractions. And when you leave the coins to them you can be assured that they these coins will be worth more than what you bought them for.
If you want to hunt for vintage coins without paying top dollar the best place to look for them is at your local bank. You can buy the coins at face value, all you have to is "buy half dollar, quarter etc. rolls and sort through them. Many people even order special order rolls of coins from their bank so they can more efficiently hunt for silver. At the end of the day, coin collecting can give you peace of mind, knowing that these American treasures will continue to grow in value.
